WESTY STUDENTS MAKING DREAMS COME TRUE

With every car washed, movie watched and roller skate laced up, Westminster High School students are moving closer to their goal of sending six-year-old Ke’Zon and his family to Disney World as part of a Colorado Make a Wish fundraiser.

Ke’Zon, who lives in Aurora, was diagnosed with Kidney failure In August of 2019.  He has since had a kidney transplant and has also been diagnosed with autism.  He is resilient, but he and his family could certainly use some help.

The Westminster High School sophomore class is spearheading the effort after learning about the foundation and its amazing work through a CHSSA summer camp.

In addition to spirit days for students to participate in, the students have been incredibly busy.

On Tuesday, February 27 students gathered at Skate City in Arvada to raise money for the cause.

On Saturday, March 2 students held a car wash at Westminster high school where they raised more than $500.  Visitors were also offered a chance to throw a pie at a cheerleader to raise extra money.   Among those who couldn’t resist the opportunity was Principal Kiffany Kiewiet.

There is still more to come this week with opportunities for the public to join the effort:

In addition, the students will have an all school pep assembly on Friday.

The next issue of What’s up WPS will have complete coverage of the cause and introduce you to some of the amazing students who made it happen. In the meantime, find your running shoes and enjoy the pictures of the Car Wash and Skate A Thon.
