WESTMINSTER PUBLIC SCHOOLS PARTNERS WITH THE CITY OF WESTMINSTER FOR ARTS WEEK
From now through the end of April, Westminster Public Schools (WPS) is partnering with the City of Westminster by hosting a variety of arts themed events showcasing students from every age group across the district as a lead up to Westminster Arts Week.
Westminster Arts Week is a community celebration that showcases the talents of local artists, musicians, dancers, and thespians who make up the city’s diverse artistic community. Westminster Arts Week is presented through partnerships with local art organizations, local businesses, and Westminster Public Schools.
The City of Westminster describes the event as follows, “This collaborative week-long event meets Council’s Strategic Goals related to Shared Sense of Community and Quality of Life with events designed to foster community engagement and appreciation for the arts.”
Dr. Justin Davis, the WPS Creative Arts Pipeline Coordinator is excited about the partnership with the city. “We are beyond excited to have forged a collaborative partnership with the City of Westminster, the North Metro Arts Alliance, numerous area businesses, and local artists and performers to bring forward a fully realized arts week that celebrates and highlights the creative skills within our community,” Davis says. “Additionally, Westminster Arts Week will serve as a vehicle to help provide increased visibility to the outstanding creativity of our very own WPS students and staff through showcased events like the district art show, the student- and staff-facilitated chalk art experience, and Celebrating Excellence. It’s a great time to be involved, or to get involved, in the creative arts!”
Below is the schedule of events leading up to Westminster Arts Week:
Wednesday April 17: WAVE Concert (District Youth Choir): 6:00 PM Joanna Ramsey Theatre at WHS
April 18: District Art Show Reception: 4:30 PM – 7:00 PM. 2nd floor of WHS in the ESC lobby.
April 24: Celebrating Excellence and Westy’s Got Talent: 5:00 PM WHS
