Back-to-School Breakfast Brings Smiles, Backpacks, and Community Spirit

The buzz of excited voices and the smell of pancakes and syrup filled Westminster High School on Saturday, August 9, as WPS families gathered for the district’s annual Back-to-School Breakfast and Backpack Giveaway.

Thanks to the support of A Precious Child and the Westminster Public Schools Foundation, families were welcomed to a morning of good food, warm smiles, and the reassurance that their children would be ready for day one.

About two thousand backpacks were handed out at the event, each carefully chosen by students eager to find the perfect fit for the new school year. The goal was to have students start the year with all the supplies they need so they can focus on learning and their education.

For many, the fun was just beginning once they made their choice. Children clustered around customization stations, adding iron-on patches and creating their own buttons with a button maker. Each backpack quickly became a reflection of the student carrying it—bright, bold, and full of personality.

Breakfast included stacks of fresh pancakes, sausage patties, fruit, milk, and coffee to go around.
