A Note From Superintendent Gotto | April 30

Dear Westminster Public Schools Community,

As we plan for the future of Westminster Public Schools, this spring our Future Together Facilities Initiative (FTFI) Committee has spent a lot of time crunching data about district enrollment trends, birth rates, and looking at the condition of our school buildings. We have held a series of meetings with members of the committee who have studied the information and asked important questions.

Now we need to hear from you!

As I promised in my State of the District report when we announced the creation of the FTFI committee, public input will play a critical role in the decision-making process as our Board of Education considers the best use of our resources. Should we close any school buildings? Should we redraw school boundaries? Should we repurpose any buildings?

It is a lot to consider and we want to hear your views. A community meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 8, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Daniel C. Vallez Family Education Center (7125 Mariposa Street). This will be a drop-in event where you can arrive at your convenience. Facilitators will engage participants in conversations and informal discussions to capture your ideas, concerns, and hopes for the future of our district.

As I told the board during last week’s meeting, absolutely no decisions have been made. We are making this a very transparent process so that the public is fully involved.

We will continue to provide regular updates and share information about additional public meetings later this year. I look forward to hearing your thoughts and working together to create the best possible future for our students, our schools, and our community.

Warm regards,

Dr. Jeni Gotto
