Opening in the fall of 2028, this groundbreaking PK–8 campus will bring together the proud communities of John E. Flynn A Marzano Academy and Shaw Heights Middle School under one roof—creating a vibrant learning environment where innovation and opportunity thrive. The Uplands Discovery Campus, located at the intersection of 88th and Lowell in beautiful Westminster, Colorado, combines the intimacy of a neighborhood school with the high-level resources of a premier innovation campus.

Can I enroll today?

Absolutely.

Although the brand new joint campus won't open until Fall 2028, the Uplands Discovery Campus will operate out of the building located at 8780 Circle Drive for the 26/27 school year. With plenty of room for our PK-8 students, the former Shaw Heights Middle School has recently been renovated with new flooring, air conditioning, and a separate wing for our littlest learners.

What social emotional supports available?

Uplands Discovery Campus focuses on supporting the whole child through both academics and social emotional growth. Our Falcons SOAR program, which stands for Self-Control, Ownership, Attitude, and Respect, teaches positive behavior and community values. We also use a Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS) which helps create a safe, consistent, and caring school environment. Upland’s support team includes a full-time school psychologist and part time therapist through a community partner. Together, these supports help students build strong relationships, manage emotions, and feel safe and connected at school.

How do students of different ages learn and interact together?

The Uplands Discovery Campus PK–8 model is designed to build a strong sense of community and belonging for every student. Older students have leadership opportunities, such as mentoring and modeling positive behavior for younger Falcons, while younger students benefit from seeing those examples each day. Tutoring, reading, and "buddy" activities are a regular practice.
