Personal Communication Device Policy
Focusing on What Matters: Bell-to-Bell, Away for the Day
Responding to a growing, nationwide concern regarding the impact of personal devices on the educational experience and social-emotional health of students, and in response to Colorado House Bill 25-1135, we are setting new standards to minimize digital distractions during the school day.

Student Policy
Starting in the 2026-2027 school year, WPS will maintain a phone-free school day. This will protect instructional time, reduce distractions, promote student well-being, and ensure a focused learning environment.

Prioritizing Safety
We understand that for many families, a cell phone represents connection, reassurance, and safety. In moments of uncertainty or fear, the instinct to reach your child—or for them to reach you—is deeply human.
Colorado House Bill 25-1135, signed in May 2025, requires all Colorado school districts and charter schools to adopt and implement a policy regulating student cell phone and communication device use during the school day. Policies must be in place by July 1, 2026.
