Mill Levy Override
On Nov. 6, 2018 voters approved ballot measure4A by a margin of 53% to 47%. 12,592 votes yes, 11,046 votes no.
The Board of Education received the certified election results and certified the 2019 mil levy rate at the December, 11 Board of Education meeting.
On Aug. 14, 2018, the Westminster Public Schools (WPS) Board of Education voted to place a mill levy override on the November 6 ballot to raise $9.9 million a year to support the operations, program, construction and maintenance needs in WPS. What was on the Ballot?
WPS proposed an increase of taxes by $9.9 million in 2018 for collection in 2019. Some projects include:

Improving school safety and security

Expanding existing vocational/career programs

Create partnerships with organizations like the Boys and Girls Club to enable and enhance learning opportunities for community youth

Attracting and retaining highly-effective teachers, mental health professionals, and counselors
The board also voted on a resolution supporting the passage of Amendment 73, a statewide campaign to raise $1.6 billion a year for education funding in Colorado. On Aug. 9, the Colorado Secretary of State’s office announced that the citizen-initiated ballot measure had gathered enough signatures to place the issue before voters. It is estimated, that if passed, the Great Schools, Thriving Communities measure would bring an additional $16.5 million a year to WPS.
Colorado voters rejected the measure by a margin on 55% to 45%.
