Health Services for all kids

Each school within the Westminster Public School district has a Registered Nurse consultant who supports students, families, staff and administration for health-related services. The nurse manages medication oversight, student health needs, IEP and 504 consultations and is on call for injuries and incidents.

Each school also has on-site trained staff who perform day-to-day care for students, such as medication administration, basic first aid, and diabetes management.

Notify your school nurse if your student has a health need that requires support during the school day. You can find the nurse for your child's school listed here. Keep your student’s health concerns updated at registration and as conditions change during the school year.

If your child is ill, keep them home and refer to these guidelines to determine when they are safe to return to school.

Medication in Schools

Westminster Public Schools has a medication policy that is in accordance with Colorado school health guidelines. The policy states that both prescription and over the counter medications (or non-prescription medications) may be given at school when specific conditions are met.

We request that whenever possible your child receives his/her medication at home. We would appreciate a maximum 30-day supply at school for a child with ongoing medications. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s school.

You can find the medication form for your child's specific health condition here. These forms must be filled out by a health provider and signed by a provider, parent and school nurse.
