Transportation

Westminster School Bus parked with kids walking next to it

Westminster Public Schools is proud to provide free bus transportation for elementary and PK–8 school students who live more than one mile from their assigned neighborhood school, and for middle school and high school students who live more than one and a half miles away. We are committed to ensuring safe, reliable access to school for all eligible students.

Eligibility & Registration

To be considered for Transportation Services, families must complete a Bus Rider Registration Form each school year.

WPS works to accommodate as many eligible riders as possible. However, transportation availability can change based on need and staffing.

Please note:

  • Routes may be adjusted based on driver availability.
  • Some stops or routes may be consolidated or removed.
  • Bus capacity may limit the number of students we are able to serve.

Families are encouraged to consider alternate transportation if it is practical for them.

RTD Zero Fare for Youth

RTD offers free rides to youth through its Zero Fare for Youth program.

  • Students under 19 years of age can ride RTD at no cost.
  • A student ID is required to access the free fare.

This can be a helpful option for families, especially when district bus capacity is limited.

Transportation Services

Westminster Public Schools Transportation Department proudly services approximately 4,000 students traveling to one of our district schools, and two of our neighboring districts for the school year.

Bus Fees

Student Transportation Policies

Westminster Public Schools Transportation Department follows all State and Federal regulations to ensure safe transportation for all students and proper maintenance on all vehicles. Please see Superintendent Policy EEA for more information regarding student transportation services. Please also see Superintendent Policy EEAA for more information regarding pupil transportation parameters.

Please refer to the WPS Student Rights and Responsibilities Code of Conduct Handbook for information regarding the student school bus code of conduct, disciplinary action for transportation vehicles and the procedures for suspension from any transportation vehicle.

Student Walking Distances

Westminster Public Schools will provide transportation for all eligible elementary school and K-8 students who live beyond one mile from their assigned school, and to middle and high school students who live beyond one and one-half miles from their assigned school.
