Competency Based System
Westminster Public Schools Competency Based System is the most effective educational model to provide flexible Anywhere Anytime learning, to address lost learning opportunities, to equip students for the skills necessary to succeed in the competitive global economy; and to meet the needs of our business community especially in response to large scale disruptions like a Pandemic. We continue our steadfast commitment to ensuring that all students receive a quality and equitable education every day based upon the belief that all students shall attain competency to successfully advance to the next level in our Competency Based System. We believe every student is capable and must be a participant in their education. Making choices that align with their personal interests, strengths, and aspirations, while provided opportunities to develop and exercise their agency in and out of the classroom.
High Reliability Schools
Westminster Public uses Dr. Marzano's High Reliability SchoolsTM (HRS) framework, which grounds our collective purpose, giving all students the opportunity to learn content and skills they need for success in college, careers, and beyond.
The WPS framework consists of five levels:
- Level 1: Safe and Collaborative Culture
- Level 2: Effective Teaching in Every Classroom
- Level 3: Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum
- Level 4: Standards-Referenced Reporting
- Level 5: Competency-Based Education
