2026 Mill Levy Ballot Measure

Boy on swing on a playground with blue shirt reading Reach for the Stars
On Aug 26, 2026 the Board of Education approved a resolution to place a Mill Levy Override on the Nov 3, 2026 ballot.

The Community Decides

By approving this resolution, the Board offers voters the opportunity to decide whether WPS should be authorized to collect previously approved revenues, without imposing new taxes.

The Measure Would Not Impose A New Tax or New Mill Levy

It asks voters whether WPS may collect the full amount of local property tax revenues previously approved by WPS voters in 1988, 2002, and 2018, subject to the limit established for the District under Colorado law.

1

Voters have already approved the revenues.

2

State law previously limited WPS to collecting 25%.

3

The new law increases that maximum to 27%.

4

Now the decision belongs to voters.

If approved, the additional revenue would support four identified priorities:

A young woman in the foreground holds a phone while a robotic arm sits on a table, and in the background, students work at desks in a brightly lit classroom.
Two security guards in black shirts stand in the foreground with a modern building in the blurred background.
Four smiling graduates in caps and gowns hold diplomas and flowers in front of a plain background with a banner that reads %22IMPROVING ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT.%22
A teacher and student are at a desk in a classroom with colorful decorations and cabinets in the background.

Projected to Generate $2 million Annually Without Imposing New Taxes

Subject to voter approval, Colorado legal limits, and annual assessed property values.
