Harris Park + WAIS
Welcome to the International School at Harris Park!
In our new PK–6 community, the world is our classroom. Beginning in the Fall of 2026, Harris Park and Westminster Academy for International Studies will join together under one name– the International School at Harris Park. Here, we will prepare our students to be empathetic, informed, and active citizens of a global society. Whether through language exploration, global projects, or computer programming, we will continue to ensure that our students see themselves as part of a much larger story.
A Personalized Approach
Like all schools in WPS, we believe that learning is a journey, not a race. Our school will continue to use a competency-based design, ensuring that every student progresses at a pace that both supports and challenges them. This approach moves away from "one-size-fits-all" instruction to focus on individual growth. We empower our students to take ownership over their education, building a foundation of true understanding and confidence that will serve them long after they leave 6th grade.
A Caring Culture
The "feel" of a school isn't found in the bricks and mortar, but in the relationships built within them. We are dedicated to maintaining the close-knit, family atmosphere that defines us. In this new PK–6 environment, every child will be known by name, every family will be a valued partner, and every day will be rooted in a culture of care. We are committed to fostering a safe, inclusive space where social-emotional well-being is prioritized alongside academics, ensuring that our school remains a place where every child feels they truly belong.
Experienced Teachers
We're so excited for next year, and we've already started filling open positions for the 2026/27 school year. Many parents are hoping to find out where their favorite teachers will land, so we've started a webpage on the Harris Park site to keep track. Bringing HP and WAIS together will give students the strongest, most skilled team of educators and support staff to start the new school year.
Two great schools becoming better together
Beginning in the Fall of 2026, the Westminster Academy for International Studies will move its programming to the Harris Park PK-6 to combine into a single school- the International School at Harris Park. The current building for WAIS will close at the end of the 25/26 academic year.

Westminster International Academy
The International Focused program at Westminster International Academy approaches several academic subjects through the lens of international studies. Students learn to appreciate diverse cultures and geographic locations worldwide. WAIS also features a foreign language (Spanish or Mandarin Chinese) course as part of its specials rotation. Beginning in the Fall of 2026 the international focus program will move to their the new location in Harris Park.

Harris Park
Harris Park is a community-oriented neighborhood school with a focus on programming and computer science. The Maker Lab and interactive hallways keep students inspired and curious, providing hands-on learning opportunities. Harris Park is thrilled to welcome WAIS families and students for the 2026-2027 school year to build on the vibrant learning community and expand programming and opportunities for students.

An Exciting Transition
All students react differently to a change in their routine and what they know.
For many children, this will be an exciting transition and a part of growing up. Still, for others, especially younger children, it may produce some questions and anxiety. Our counselors have put together some simple talking points to keep in mind when talking to your children.
